DESCRIPTION:Aim: The program provides funding for today’s brightest mind
 s to apply their talent and expertise to a new field in mathematics or the
  natural sciences. Pivot Fellows receive support for one year of mentored 
 training in their new discipline\, followed by the opportunity to apply f
 or up to five years of research funding in their new field. Successful app
 licants will have a strong track record of success and achievement in thei
 r current field and a deep interest\, curiosity and drive to contribute to
  a new discipline.  The program is open to faculty in the natural science
 s\, mathematics\, engineering\, data science and computer science at acade
 mic institutions or equivalent positions elsewhere.\n\nDuration: 12 months
 \n\nFunding: Salary support for the fellow + $10K for fellow’s research/
 travel + $50K for mentor’s research        \n\nEligibility: Fell
 ows and mentors must hold a Ph.D.\, M.D. or equivalent degree in the natur
 al sciences (astronomy\, biology\, chemistry\, earth sciences\, neuroscien
 ce and physics)\, engineering\, mathematics\, data science or computer sci
 ence — and all subdisciplines therein — and be faculty at an academic 
 institution or hold an equivalent position. Fellows must demonstrate that 
 the fellowship will take place in a new discipline\, distinct from their c
 urrent field of study. In order to receive the fellowship\, fellows must b
 e approved by their institution for a full year of leave. Fellows must not
  hold any other fellowship that will provide them with salary support duri
 ng the training year of the Pivot Fellowship.\n\nHow to Apply: Applicants 
 must apply through Simons Award Manager (SAM). Fellows and mentors will ea
 ch submit a unique application in SAM independently of each other.\n\nAppl
