DESCRIPTION:Christopher Chiu\nThe geometry of jet and arc spaces has long 
 been studied in the context of birational geometry and motivic integration
 . In the first half we will recall some of the classical results as well a
 s presenting some more recent developments on the schematic structure of t
 he arc space. A key ingredient in these is de Fernex and Docampo's formula
  on the sheaf of differentials of jet and arc spaces. In the second half w
 e will introduce a more categorical approach to their construction and dis
 cuss how to prove a similar formula for Greenberg schemes and arithmetic j
 et spaces. This talk covers work in progress with Tommaso de Fernex and Ro
 i Docampo.
