DESCRIPTION:Open-source research software has become a central part of how
modern science is produced\, shared\, and reused. Yet the work involved i
 n developing\, maintaining\, documenting\, and sustaining research softwar
e communities often remains difficult to see\, measure\, and value within
research institutions.\n\nOpenPulse is an open research data platform deve
loped by EPFL Open Science in collaboration with the Swiss Data Science C
enter. It aims to make research software communities and their contributio
ns more visible and valued through meaningful indicators related to activi
ty\, collaboration\, maintenance\, and community engagement around softwar
e.\n\nAt the first OpenPulse event in November 2025\, participants helped
us think through what such a platform could make possible. Through a hands
-on sprint\, they prototyped ideas around open hardware\, reproducible mac
 hine learning\, open education\, data visualization\, and open-source poli
cy and governance.\n\nNow\, OpenPulse is ready for its community rollout.\
n\nThis follow-up workshop invites the community to try out the dashboard
s\, examine research software projects through a first set of CHAOSS-inspi
red indicators\, share feedback\, and discuss what we can learn from looki
ng at research software through the lens of community engagement.\n\nWe we
lcome researchers\, software developers\, research software engineers\, da
 ta scientists\, research administrators\, IT and library professionals\, a
nd anyone interested in how research software communities are built\, main
tained\, evaluated\, and supported. No coding experience is required. Tech
nical\, conceptual\, strategic\, and community perspectives are equally we
 lcome.\n\nProgramme highlights\n\n	Introduction: What do open-source resea
rch software communities look like\, and why study them through the lens o
f community engagement?\n	Live OpenPulse demo by the Swiss Data Science Ce
 nter\n	OpenPulse booth & hands-on dashboard exploration\n	Community roundt
 able on OpenPulse governance\, maintenance\, and sustainability.\n	\n Tog
ether\, we will ask: How do research software communities grow and sustain
themselves? How are decisions made? Who maintains pull requests and bug t
rackers? What kinds of contributions are visible\, and which ones are stil
 l missed?\n	\n	\n	Lunch discussion and closing remarks\n\nSpots are limite
 d. Register Now and be part of the OpenPulse launch.\nFor more informatio
