DESCRIPTION:Prof. Remi Monasson <remi.monasson@phys.ens.psl.eu> \nWhile
metabolic constraints have played a major role in the evolution of the bra
in\, how information processing and energy consumption are interconnected
remains difficult to pin down. Recently\, Padamsey et al. experimentally i
nvestigated this relationship in the context of visual information process
ing in food-deprived mice. By combining the analysis of their activity dat
 a\, mean-field theory\, and numerical simulations of a continuous-attracto
r neural network\, I will propose a mechanism by which neural circuits can
save a considerable amount of energy without significantly affecting thei
 r performance.\nIn collaboration with S. Castedo\, S. Cocco\, Z. Padamsey\
 , N. Rochefort
