DESCRIPTION:Gaznat and EPFL have a long-standing strategic cooperation\, w
 hich involves setting up a competence pole on CO2 capture\, storage\, and 
 utilization for the production of synthetic gas. Building on the success o
 f this collaboration\, a new framework agreement was signed in December 20
 24 that involves issuing new calls for research proposals.\n\nThe second c
 all is now open and proposals can be submitted by the deadline of 17 Augus
 t 2026 (17:00 CEST).\n\nThe Gaznat-EPFL Research Programme will support pr
 ojects in the following thematic areas:\n\n	Advanced separation technologi
 es (for example CO2 from air or flue gases\, H2 from CH4\, etc.)\; \n	Pro
 duction of synthetic and renewable gases and liquids\;  \n	Energy storag
 e infrastructure (for example in rockcaves or chemical energy storage/P2X)
  and transport infrastructure\;\n	CO2 capture\, utilization\, and storage 
 (CCUS)\; \n	Impact of various molecules on confinement materials (for exa
 mple H2 in steel pipelines)\; \n	Systemic aspects related to gas transfor
 mation and supply\n	AI in topics related to the above-mentioned areas\n	Ot
 her topics deemed relevant by the Steering Committee.\n\nType of projects\
 , funding and duration\n\nThis new Gaznat-EPFL Research Programme will sup
 port two categories of projects:\n\n1. ‘Explore projects’: TRL ≥ 4: 
 Lab-scale prototypes with the potential to progress towards TRL 6-9.\n\n	P
 roject duration: Up to 4 years\n	Expected funding: CHF 300-500k (maximum) 
 per project\n	Expected outcomes: Prototypes of novel technologies\, proces
 ses\, or solutions deployed at the Gaznat GreenGas Innovation Lab whenever
  possible.\n\n\n2. ‘Seed projects’: TRL ˂ 4: early-stage projects wit
 h the potential to advance to higher TRLs\n\n	Project duration: 6-12 month
 s\n	Expected funding: CHF 50-100k (maximum) per project\n	Expected outcome
 s: Description and characterization of promising pathways\, frameworks\, o
 r technologies with the potential for further development towards higher T
 RLs.  \n\n                \nRequirements\n\nThe call for p
 roposals is open to the EPFL community as follows:\n\n	Explore projects: O
 pen to Professors or Maîtres d’Enseignement et de Recherche (MER).\n	Se
 ed projects: Open to the entire EPFL community (faculty members\, senior s
 cientists\, postdocs\, PhD students). Projects must be hosted by an EPFL l
 aboratory\, and\n	supervised by at least one EPFL faculty member (Prof. ti
 t.\, MER\, PATT\, PA or PO).\n	EPFL Heads of relevant units or Centers are
  also eligible to apply.\n	The number of proposals submitted as main appli
 cant/ co-applicants is restricted to max 1 Explore project and max 1 Seed
