CATEGORIES:Call for proposal
DESCRIPTION:The QSE Center invites EPFL researchers to submit proposals fo
r research projects requiring access to Quantinuum quantum computers.\n\nB
ackground\n\nOver the past five years\, EPFL has pursued a coordinated str
ategy to build excellence and a strong interdisciplinary research communit
y in quantum information science\, quantum algorithms and quantum computin
g.\nAs part of this effort\, EPFL through the QSE Center has acquired cl
oud access to Quantinuum’s quantum computers and associated software env
ironment. The service is fully integrated into the EPFL computing environm
ent operated by SCITAS. Beyond providing secure access to Quantinuum syste
ms\, SCITAS enables integration with HPC/AI resources\, supports hybrid cl
assical–quantum workflows\, and offers local user support and operationa
l expertise. Because access to state-of-the-art quantum hardware represent
s a substantial financial investment and the available computing capacity
is limited\, access will be allocated through a competitive call for resea
rch proposals.\nThe QSE Center invites EPFL researchers to submit proposal
s for research projects requiring access to Quantinuum quantum computers.
The call aims to support scientifically ambitious and original projects in
areas including\, but not limited to:\n\n	quantum algorithms\;\n	quantum
simulation\;\n	quantum information theory\;\n	quantum error correction and
fault tolerance\;\n	benchmarking and characterization of quantum processo
rs\;\n	hybrid quantum-classical computing\;\n	applications of quantum comp
 uting in physics\, chemistry\, materials science\, optimization\, machine
learning and other disciplines.\n\nEligibility\nThe call is open to resear
chers affiliated with EPFL. Each proposal must identify:\n\n	a scientific
project leader\;\n	the participating researchers and laboratories\;\n	the
EPFL laboratory that will assume responsibility for the project and for th
e internal billing of the quotas actually used\;\n	the researchers who are
expected to require access to the platform.\n\nCollaborative proposals in
volving several EPFL laboratories are encouraged.\n\nPlease read entire C
all for Proposals PDF before submitting\n\nHow to submit\n\nProposals mus
t be submitted as one PDF file by email to: qse@epfl.ch\nThe email subj
 ect should read: Quantinuum Call 2026 – [Project leader’s name] – [
Short project title]\nSubmission deadline: 17 August 2026\nQuestions conce
rning the scientific scope of the call or the preparation of the quota bud
get may be addressed to the QSE Center at qse@epfl.ch.\n\nPlease note: fo
r accepted proposals\, actual hardware usage will be billed internally to
the EPFL laboratory responsible for the project at the rate of 1 CHF per u
 sed HQC.\n
