DESCRIPTION:Prof. Renaud Nicolaÿ\, ESPCI\, Paris\nVitrimers are chemical
ly crosslinked networks that can rearrange their topology without decreasi
ng their crosslinking density thanks to exchangeable links present in the
network. As a result\, vitrimers can be reshaped and recycled at will\, wh
ile displaying the superior properties of crosslinked polymers at service
temperature. Very promising materials to create a circular economy of plas
tics and polymeric materials\, vitrimers still display limitations that im
pact their transition towards industry\, such as synthetic cost\, high vis
cosity even at elevated temperatures\, due to the Arrhenian temperature de
pendence of the melt viscosity\, or moderate creep resistance at working t
emperatures in the case of low Tg materials.\nAlthough many strategies hav
e been reported to address these issues\, it remains challenging to overco
me a key tradeoff between improving the processability or the mechanical p
erformance of vitrimers.\nThis lecture will present strategies that use ph
ase separation to improve the processability and mechanical performance of
dynamic polymer networks\,¹⁻⁴ to upcycle polyolefin blends\,5 or to
 create self-healing\, injectable hydrogels.⁶\n\nReferences\n1. Röttger\

industrial applications\, with a focus on developing innovative synthetic
  methodologies\, designing stimuli-responsive materials and formulations\,
engineering high-performance\, recyclable materials. Two key research are
as in his team include dynamic polymer networks — such as vitrimers —
 and hierarchically structured materials.\n
