DESCRIPTION:Aim: The Decarbonization and Energy Virtual Institute (DEVI) i
 s an initiative of Schmidt Sciences’ Climate Center to advance the metho
 dological frontier of decarbonization modeling by addressing key knowledge
  gaps in complex interdependencies of decarbonization pathways\, with an e
 mphasis on yielding actionable insights for policy and technology deployme
 nt strategies. This sector-focused call solicits Expressions of Intent (EO
 Is) for modeling the decarbonization of urban mobility and the built envir
 onment\, including relevant interdependencies such as land use\, end-use e
 lectrification\, and shared infrastructure\, among others. The foundation 
 seeks to fund one multi-institutional collaboration targeting coupled repr
 esentation of mobility and buildings sectors\, particularly in urban syste
 ms.\n\nFunding & Duration: Up to $4M over 5 years\n\nEligibility: Consort
 iums of multiple institutions are encouraged\, particularly including or l
 ed by researchers local to selected geographic contexts. Eligible institut
 ions include universities\, national labs\, institutes\, non-profits\, and
  agencies (including government or government-funded\, subject to legal re
 quirements).\n\nHow to Apply: The first step is to submit an Expression of
  Interest (EOI) via the Application Portal. EOIs should be brief (≤ 3 pa
 ges) and should consist of a project narrative\, research plan\, and descr
 iption of the project team.  EOIs will be anonymized (removing names and 
 references) for a blinded evaluation by a committee of advisors and Schmid
 t Sciences. All applicants will be notified of the status of their applica
 tion by November 30. At that point\, select teams will be invited to write
  a full proposal (8 pages) including more detail regarding budgets\, proje
 ct operations\, timelines and team composition.\n\nDeadline\, EOI: 02 Octo
