ance\nAbstract\n\nThe coupling between form and forces\, their structural
morphology\, is a key point \nfor Tensegrity systems. In the first part of
this paper we describe the design \nprocess of the simplest tensegrity sy
stem which was achieved by Kenneth Snelson. \nSome other simple cells are
presented and tensypolyhedra are defined as tensegrity \nsystems which mee
 t polyhedral geometry in a stable equilibrium state. A numerical \nmodel g
iving access to more complex systems\, in terms of number of components an
d \ngeometrical properties\, is then evoked. The third part is devoted to
linear \nassemblies of annular cells which can be folded. Some experimenta
l models of the \nTensegrity ring which is the basic component of this “
hollow rope” have been \nrealized and are examined.
