DESCRIPTION:Nadia Mazza [Lancaster]\nIn the 1980s\, L. Hethelyi introduced
  the notion of a soft subgroup in a finite p-group and carried on an in-de
 pth study of such groups. Roughly speaking\, a p-group having soft subgrou
 ps can be seen as an extrapolation of a p-group of maximal nilpotency clas
 s (and these have soft subgroups indeed). In this talk\, we will review He
 thelyi's work and present some examples.
