DESCRIPTION:Prof. Christopher Tucci\nProf. Christopher Tucci will present
a working paper (co-authored with Prof. Bettina Bastian):\n"The Role of Ad
vice Sources for Entrepreneurship and Innovation"Abstract:\nEntrepreneuria
l firms have been considerably involved in innovation—technological\, se
rvice as well as business model—and innovativeness is regarded as a key
factor for their success. Concerning the determinants of innovative perfor
mance\, research pays much attention to the role of networks for new ventu
res. Firms that tap into these external sources of knowledge and resources
are higher performers when it comes to entrepreneurial outcomes such as i
nnovation. Although the network concept has gained much  attention in bus
iness research in the last two decades and its contributions to entreprene
urship are well established\, little research has addressed the dynamic na
ture of networks throughout time. Using data from entrepreneurial firms in
MENA countries\, this paper analyzes the relationship between external ad
vice sources of entrepreneurs\, as one aspect of networks\, and performanc
e in terms of innovation outcomes. We study it from a process dynamic pers
pective and investigate the relevance of different external advice givers
throughout exploration and exploitation stages of the venture history.
