 rt will be concentrated on selected experimental studies on surface and in
 ternal waves discussing also the potential ecological relevance of these p
 rocesses. The second part of the talk will be focused on modelling studies
  investigating plankton in vertical water columns\, specifically addressin
 g the implications of climate warming and trophic change for phytoplankton
  development and phenology in plankton.
