 pidly aging and ICT can play a significant role in addressing the ensuing 
 socio-economical challenges such as home care\, training and rehabilitatio
 n\, and in prolonging independent participation in society for the elderly
 . Body area networks are a key enabling technology for ambient-assisted li
 ving\, but the challenge of power consumption and lifetime of such systems
  is still a major concern\, particularly when actuation is involved. A res
 earch effort is needed to increase user comfort in managing her/his health
  in autonomy and decrease needs of battery re-charge or replacement\, by e
 xploring the opportunity of power resources coming from the environment an
 d the body of the wearer. In this talk I will analyze energy optimization 
 and harvesting solutions in the context of body area networks\, with empha
 sis on flexible multi-harvesters for heterogeneous sensors and actuators.
