DESCRIPTION:Prof. Julian MARSHALL\, University of Minnesota\, USA\nFor the
  first time in history\, more than half of the global population lives in 
 cities. Nearly all population growth this century is projected to occur in
  urban areas. This lecture will focus on urban air pollution to discuss st
 eps we can take to ensure that the cities of tomorrow will be clean and he
 althy places to live.  The talk will discuss three areas of current resear
 ch: (1) approaches for incorporating health and environmental justice into
  air quality management\, (2) satellite-based evidence on the interplay be
 tween urban form and air quality\, and (3) neighborhood pedestrian-friendl
 iness and air pollution.   Dr. Marshall is an Assistant Professor of Envir
 onmental Engineering and McKnight Land-Grant Professor of Urban Sustainabi
 lity Engineering at University of Minnesota\, USA. During 2010-2011\, he i
 s a visiting researcher at the Center for Research in Environmental Epidem
 iology (CREAL)\, in Barcelona\, Spain.
