DESCRIPTION:Prof. Chris Kellett\, University of Newcastle\, Australia\nAbs
tract: Input-to-State Stability (ISS) has proved to be a valuable concept
in the\nanalysis of robust stability\, particularly when applied to the mo
dular analysis of\nlarge-scale interconnected systems.  This success has\
, in turn\, led to a proliferation\nof related ISS concepts.  Some of the
se concepts can be shown to be qualitatively\nequivalent to each other (e.
 g.\, ISS and integral-to-integral estimate)\, while other\nconcepts can be
shown to be distinctly different (e.g.\, ISS and integral ISS).  In this
\ntalk we will discuss these equivalences to elucidate different system pr
operties.  We\nfurther provide preliminary results on a generalization of
ISS that subsumes many\nISS variants of interest.\nBio: Christopher M. Ke
llett received the Bachelor of Science in Electrical\nEngineering and Math
ematics from the University of California\, Riverside\nand the Master of S
cience and Doctor of Philosophy in Electrical and\nComputer Engineering fr
om the University of California\, Santa Barbara.\nHe subsequently held res
earch positions with the Centre Automatique et Systemes\nat Ecole des Mine
s de Paris\, the Department of Electrical and Electronic\nEngineering at t
he University of Melbourne\, Australia\, and the Hamilton Institute\nat th
e National University of Ireland\, Maynooth.  Since 2006\, Chris has been
\nwith the School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at the Un
iversity of\nNewcastle\, Australia where he is currently an Australian Res
earch Council\nFuture Fellow.  In 2012\, Chris was awarded a  Humboldt R
esearch Fellowship\nfunded by the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation\, Germ
 any.
