 dic ring a finite group algebra has only finitely many quotient algebras w
 hich are free over the base ring. We investigate connections between the f
 inite group structure and the algebra structure of these quotients. In par
 ticular\, we consider the question which of these quotients are again symm
 etric algebras. This is based on work with Radha Kessar and Shigeo Koshita
 ni.
