 tiation (LTP) is a cellular mechanism believed to underlie formation of lo
 ng-term memories. However\, due to the sparse distribution of memories acr
 oss synapses and the invasive nature of LTP induction\, it is difficult to
  show that LTP is directly related to LTM. Recent research suggests that r
 epetitive visual stimulation potentiates the responses of specific orienta
 tion-sensitive neuronal populations in early visual cortex. Perceptual lea
 rning is a non-declarative type of long-term memory believed to depend on 
 such orientation-sensitive neurons. Here\, we used three different percept
 ual learning tasks to test whether perceptual learning could also be induc
 ed by repetitive "LTP-like" visual stimulation."
