  Professor Spiro at the ETH Zurich deals with research into and the advanc
 ement of historical construction techniques. The first subproject concerns
  the examination of construction methods deploying short wooden elements f
 or vaulted structures. In a number of minor constructions on the campus th
 e students utilized these principles\, whilst simultaneously examining the
  relation of traditional construction techniques and the computer as a des
 ign and production tool.
