DESCRIPTION:Prof. Dr. Stefan Schael\, RWTH Aachen\nThe Alpha Magnetic Spec
trometer (AMS) is a high precision general-purpose particle physics detect
or that has been constructed in the past fifteen years by a group of 600 s
cientists and engineers from 16 countries for the operation on board of th
e International Space Station (ISS). In May 2011 AMS was launched with the
last flight of the Space Shuttle Endeavour and installed on the ISS. Sinc
e the first day AMS is fully operational and delivers high quality measure
ments of cosmic rays with a precision and a statistical volume never reach
ed before. The status of the experiment and the results from the first two
years of data taking will be presented. This includes precision measureme
nts of the cosmic ray proton\, helium\, electron and positron fluxes.
