DESCRIPTION:Lars Grüne\nEconomic MPC is a variant of model predictive con
trol in which the control objective is more general than stabilizing a pre
scribed equilibrium. For instance\, the objectice could be to maximize yie
ld\, minimize costs or energy\, or a combination thereof. Formally\, such
general stage costs are easily incorporated in the finite horizon optimal
control problem solved in the MPC loop in each sampling instance. It is\,
however\, in general unclear\, if and if yes in which sense the closed loo
p inherits the finite horizon optimality properties. In this talk we will
present corresponding results for MPC without terminal constraints. It wil
l turn out that the so called turnpike property plays a crucial role in th
is analysis. We will hence also discuss conditions on the control system w
hich ensure this property. Parts of the talk are based on joint work with
Tobias Damm\, Marleen Stieler and Karl Worthmann.
