DESCRIPTION:Prof. Jeanne L. McHale\nDepartment of Chemistry\nWashington St
ate University (USA)\nTrap states of TiO2 nanoparticles exert tremendous i
nfluence over their performance in catalysis and in photovoltaic and photo
electrochemical devices.  This seminar will describe how the visible phot
oluminescence of nanocrystalline TiO2\, resulting from the recombination o
f trapped electrons and holes with mobile carriers\, can reveal the spatia
l and energetic distribution of intra-band gap states. Spectroelectrochemi
cal and single nanoparticle photoluminescence of conventional anatase nano
particles as well as that of nanotubes and nanosheets will be described.
