DESCRIPTION:Dr. A.A. Howling\, CRPP-EPFL\nA group for industrial plasma ap
 plications was started 24 years ago by Christoph Hollenstein and myself.\n
 I will concentrate here on my experience in large area plasma research for
  the photovoltaic solar cell and flat panel display industries. A summary 
 of the results will give an example of what can be achieved in a small gro
 up\, along with some comments on solar power and the ups and downs of indu
 stries.\nFollowing the departure of Christoph\, the group has joined the b
 asic plasma physics group - the current and future applications work progr
 amme will be described.
