DESCRIPTION:Dr Ian Mercer\nUniversity College Dublin\nI will overview a po
werful new technique in physical chemistry\, Angle-Resolved Coherent (ARC)
wave-mixing.\nThis technique is unique in allowing molecular excitons (co
herent superposition states) to be distinguished from incoherent energy tr
ansfers instantaneously. It does this by directly projecting their signatu
res into orthogonal spatial dimensions\, and without post-processing. Usin
g this we have unveiled an ordered evolution of exciton state energies in
 a light harvesting protein\, in-vitro and at physiological temperature.\nT
his idea of mapping a laser wave-mixing emission against its angle of emis
sion is broadly applicable.  We'll discuss the future mapping of molecula
r excitations spanning the UV to the near-infrared simultaneously\, and we
'll look at a future scheme for revealing protein structure dynamically\,
based on an instantaneous mapping of vibration couplings.
