DESCRIPTION:Prof. M.Anthony Lewis\, Senior DIrector at Qualcomm\nBio: M.A
Lewis is currently senior director at Qualcomm. He previously held faculty
position in University of California\, University of Illinois and univers
ity of Arizona. He founded and developed the robotics company Iguana Robot
ics which designs bio-inspired technologies.\nHis research interests inclu
de evolutionary and biomorphic robots\, visual based control of locomotion
\, central pattern generators.\nWalking\, running\, swimming and flying ar
e behavior is a behavior of central importance to the life of an animal. W
e review work in building silicon neural circuits to implement periodic mo
vement generation circuits or Central Pattern Generators (CPGS). We show w
ork in learning locomotion\, the use of vision. The talk is concluded with
an overview of work done at Qualcomm on the creation of the Zeroth Neural
  Processing Unit (NPU).
