DESCRIPTION:Olivier Bousquet\, Google\, Zürich\nOver the last few years\,
search engines have evolved from complex keyword matching and scoring alg
orithms towards systems that can understand users questions and answer the
m directly. Important factors in this evolution are the ability to represe
nt knowledge in a way that computers can manipulate it\, and the ability t
o connect structured knowledge to natural language corpora. This talk will
discuss how Google search has been going through a radical transformation
in this direction. We will talk about some of the key technologies behind
the Google Knowledge Graph and its applications in search.\nOlivier Bousq
uet is a Director of Engineering in the search team at Google. He led the
team that developed the natural language understanding technology behind G
oogle's Knowledge Graph. Prior to Google\, Olivier was Director of Researc
h at Pertinence (now part of Dassault Systèmes)\, working on data analysi
s algorithms that make manufacturing processes more efficient. He also has
extensive experience in Machine Learning and holds a PhD in Applied Mathe
 matics from Ecole Polytechnique (France).
