DESCRIPTION:Prof. Shuli You\, State Key Laboratory of Organometallic Chemi
stry\, Shanghai Institute of Organic Chemistry\, Chinese Academy of Scienc
es\, China\nAsymmetric dearomatization reactions are particularly attracti
ve methods in organic synthesis given the facts that the starting material
s arenes are highly abundant and readily available\, and the dearomatizati
on reaction would provide direct access to compounds bearing quaternary ca
rbon center\, or polycylces and spirocycles.\nIn this talk\, the progress
from the You laboratory on the development of catalytic asymmetric dearoma
tization processes will be introduced. Direct asymmetric allylic dearomati
 zation reactions of indoles\, pyrroles\, phenols\, naphthols\, and pyridin
es were realized with a proper choice of a catalytic amount of transition-
metal catalysts such as Ir\, Pd\, and Ru complexes. The new ligand design\
, transformation of the dearomatized products\, mechanistic studies and sy
 nthetic application will also be discussed.\nReference:\n1. (a) Zhang\, X.
