  a generalized complex structure on an even-dimensional manifold. A slight
  modification of the setup leads to generalized complex geometry of type B
 n\, where generalized complex structures are defined for odd-dimensional m
 anifolds as well as even-dimensional ones. In this talk I will give an int
 roduction to generalized complex geometry and discuss the various phenomen
 a occurring in even and odd dimensions.
