 ndia \nAbstract: For the growing unemployed and unskilled population in I
 ndia\, Vocational Education and Training (VET) offers the promise of abund
 ant job prospects with a decent income. Although an evident opportunity\, 
 imparting vocational education faces several challenges in the country’s
  impoverished regions. Technology interventions provide a viable solution 
 to tackle the various challenges in VET.     We will talk about our work
  to address some of the issues we face in imparting vocational education i
 n rural and tribal regions of India and the various opportunities in resea
 rch in technology enhanced learning and development of haptic simulators f
 or digitally illiterate communities. We will share our experience in carry
 ing technology-based education to the tribal areas in South India\, to the
  communities in the forests of central India and to the villages in the Hi
