DESCRIPTION:Paul Nelson (EPFL)\nThe talk will concern an aspect of the rep
resentation theory of Lie groups.  It is a continuation of a talk from tw
o weeks ago in Nicolas Monod's seminar\, but should be mostly self-contain
ed.\nIn that talk I described an asymptotic classification of "approximate
ly equivariant operators" when restricted to "localized vectors" in certai
n irreducible unitary representations of certain Lie groups\, and indicate
d some applications to establishing the invariance of limiting measures ar
ising in semiclassical analysis and number theory.\nIn this talk I will re
call that result and describe its proof in some simple cases.  No backgro
und will be assumed.  The argument is of a microanalytic flavor and inspi
red by the method of coadjoint orbits.
