DESCRIPTION:Prof. Dr Yongxin Guo\, National University of Singapore\nWirel
ess power and data telemetry technologies for biomedical and healthcare ap
plications have received a lot of attention recently. Numerous application
s in medical diagnostics and therapeutics ranging from cardiac pacemakers
to emerging devices in visual prosthesis\, brain computer interfaces and b
ody area networks have spurred electronic engineers to propose new wireles
s medical devices. In the meantime\, the ageing population poses many chal
lenges to healthcare systems\, especially on chronic illness management.\n
In this talk\, I would mainly cover our recent research progress on wearab
le/implantable antennas and wireless power for biomedical applications. In
addition\, I would also briefly introduce my other research activities in
cluding millimeter-wave antennas and antenna bandwidth enhancement techniq
ues.\nIn Memoriam Prof. Dr Julien Perruisseau-Carrier\nBio: Dr Yongxin Guo
is an Associate Professor of the Department of Electrical and Computer En
gineering (ECE)\, National University of Singapore (NUS) and Director of C
enter for Microwave and Radio Frequency at the Department of ECE of NUS. H
e received his Ph.D. degree from City University of Hong Kong in 2001. Fro
m September 2001 to January 2009\, he was with the Institute for Infocomm
Research\, Singapore\, as a Research Scientist. He has authored or co-auth
ored 140 international journal papers and 157 international conference pap
ers. He holds one Chinese Patent\, one U.S. patent and one filed PCT paten
 t. His current research interests include microstrip antennas for wireless
communications\, implantable/wearable antennas and body channel modeling
for medical applications\, wireless power and RF energy harvesting\, micro
wave circuits\, and MMIC modeling and design.\nDr Guo is the General Chair
for 2015 IEEE MTT-S International Microwave Workshop Series on Advanced M
aterials and processes for RF and THz Applications (IMWS-AMP 2015)\, July
01-03\, Suzhou\, China. He was the General Chair for IEEE MTT-S Internatio
nal Microwave Workshop Series 2013 on “RF and Wireless Technologies for
biomedical and Healthcare Applications" (IMWS2013-Bio) in Singapore. He is
serving as an Associate Editor for IEEE Antennas and Wireless Propagation
Letters (AWPL). He was a recipient of the Young Investigator Award 2009\,
National University of Singapore. He is the 2013 “Raj Mittra” Travel
 Grant Senior Researcher Award recipient.
