DESCRIPTION:John Goodacre\, ARMJohn Goodacre is the Director of Technolog
 y and Systems at ARM Processor Group in Cambridge UK. John joined ARM in
  February 2002 and took responsibility for their platform architecture. To
 day he is Director of Technology and Systems focused on various programs a
 round the application processor’s roadmap which included the definition 
 and market development of the ARM multicore technology.  Prior to working
  at ARM\, he specialized in enterprise software having worked for Microsof
 t as Group Program Manager and architect delivering Exchange 2000 Conferen
 cing Server\; which together has given him a unique insight across both bi
 g-software and the minute detail of hardware micro architecture.\nRefreshm
 ent served at 13:45pm in front of BC 420\nAbstract: With the growing prese
 nce of the large international vertically integrated companies\, the busin
 ess’ in Europe need to collaborate and work together towards a shared go
 al in which to complete effectively.  This talk will discuss an evolving 
 thread across various EU company\, research institutes and universities to
  form an alliance under which the participants can indicate their particip
 ation of a shared goal. In using the business model and the ARM technology
  various consortium have formed an ecosystem that is now able to address t
 he higher compute requirements of the cloud and HPC. In describing the arc
 hitecture and goals of EUROSERVER\, one of these consortium\, this talk wi
 ll introduce the outline system architectural framework around which conse
 nsus is growing and the goals in moving it towards exascale.
