DESCRIPTION:André Kempe\nabout Atelier Kempe Thill\nAndre Kempe (1968) an
 d Oliver Thill (1971) are two German architectes. They both studied archit
 ecture in the Dresden University of Technology where they graduated in 199
 6. They moved to Rotterdam where they started working. In 1999 they won Eu
 ropan 5 with a 300 dwellings project in Kop van Zuid in the Netherlands. M
 otivated by the accomplishment they formed Atelier Kempe Thill in 2000. On
 e year after they completed their first built projet: the award wining “
 Light Building”. Since then they have participated and won several compe
 titions in Europe. In 2005 they received the Rotterdam Maaskant Prize for 
 Young Architects and they won “Dutch Architect oh the Year Award” in 2
 011. △ about 5x3\nThe 5x3 is a cycle of open lectures which aims to pre
 sent individual practical approaches of architects from different European
  countries. Each semester 5 offices are invited to give a conference.  Ea
 ch office presents 3 of their projects: the very first one and two others.
  Those 3 projects are like milestones that should represent the parcours o
 f the office. The insight into the different working methods and the story
  behind the formation of the office provides a good opportunity to learn a
 bout the different ways to start and lead an architectural office. The 5x3
  lectures are organized by EAST/EPFL in collaboration with the Forum d’A
 rchitecture de Lausanne. △
