DESCRIPTION:Short Course in Advanced Surface Analysis in the Earth\, Envir
onmental and Life Sciences:\nLaser Ablation ICP-MS\, SIMS and NanoSIMS hav
e become analytical tools of great importance in the geological and enviro
nmental sciences\, and NanoSIMS sub-cellular imaging is now entering the L
ife Sciences. The Center for Advanced Surface Analysis (CASA) offers a 3 d
ay- short course for PhD students\, Postdocs\, and other interested resear
chers. The goal is to familiarize potential future users with the capabili
ties of each of these analytical techniques. For each instrument\, present
ations will be given that cover scientific applications (Day 1)\, technica
l aspects of instrument functioning and analysis (Day 2)\, and a visit to
each labs (Day 3).\nThe number of participants is limited to 30.\nRegistra
