DESCRIPTION:Maximilian Messmer (Technische Universität Dresden\, D)\nLase
r WakeField Acceleration (LWFA) has emerged as a promising concept in an e
ffort to build compact\, multi GeV electron accelerators. This plasma base
d accelerator technique uses laser induced charge carrier density waves to
create extreme accelerating field gradients.  To attain highest possible
particle energies\, a high energy laser must be focused over distances mu
ch greater than the Rayleigh length. As part of my master thesis\, the gui
dance of terra watt laser beams has been experimentally shown for distance
s in capillary discharge plasma waveguides.\nThe talk will briefly explain
the concept of laser wakefield acceleration and laser guiding in plasma c
hannels\, followed by the experimental results of laser guiding experiment
s conducted at the Helmholz Zentrum Dresden Rossendorf (HZDR).
