DESCRIPTION:Dr. H. Weisen\nJET\, UK (permanent address: CRPP-EPFL)\nA broa
d survey of measured and predicted neutron rates in JET reveals that in ab
out half of JET plasmas\, the measured neutron rates fall short of predict
ions\, sometimes by as much as by a factor 2. As neutron production in JET
is dominated by interactions of fast ions with thermal ions\, this indica
tes the existence of some form of fast ion transport\, not accounted for i
n the modelling. Fortunately\, discharges at high beta and high temperatur
e\, such as hybrid scenarios\, do not experience this deficit. The present
ation will review a range of possible candidate processes\, several of whi
ch have already been excluded from being significant contributors at the c
urrent stage of this ongoing investigation.
