DESCRIPTION:In population dynamics\, environmental fluctuations (such as l
 ight\, precipitation\, temperature\, nutrient availability\, etc.) are usu
ally described as deterministic (typically\, periodic) or stochastic varia
tions of the parameters characterizing the model. Understanding under what
conditions these external forces can be benefical or detrimental to the e
xistence of populations is a question of theoretical and practical importa
nce in ecology. In automatic control theory\, a completely different scien
tific area\, one is interested by the equilibrium stability of some object
(say\, an airplane) under permanent disturbances that can be deterministi
c or stochastic. The aim of the workshop is to gather people active in the
areas of either "population dynamics" or "automatic control"\, for exchan
ge of experience and possible cross-fertilization.
