DESCRIPTION:Kroecher\, Oliver (PSI)\nThe emission limits for diesel vehicl
es have been significantly decreased all over the world during the last ye
ars. This has involved enormous challenges for engine manufacturers as wel
l as researchers to develop efficient\, reliable and economic exhaust clea
n-up processes. For the reduction of NOx emissions the selective catalytic
reduction (SCR) with urea is the favoured technology\, whereas diesel par
ticulate matter is preferentially removed by diesel particulate filters. T
he most recent trend is to combine NOx reduction and particulate matter fi
ltration in a single device. The contributions of the exhaust gas after-tr
eatment group at the Paul Scherrer Institute (PSI) to the development of t
hese technologies will be reviewed with a focus on latest developments and
  current research projects.
