DESCRIPTION:Dr. Arne Seitz\nOptical Coherence Tomography (OCT) is a recent
 ly developed laser based imaging technique that can image the internal str
 ucture of materials.  It is particularly suitable for biological materials
 .  The technique enables real-time\, video-rate visualization and measurem
 ent of biological details that are too small to be seen with ultrasound an
 d too deep for conventional microscopy.\nMichelson Diagnostics have develo
 ped OCT systems which use multiple beams to achieve extremely high resolut
 ion over extended imaging depths (<7.5micron over 2mm depth).  The present
 ation will introduce OCT and the Multi-beam OCT technology and provide exa
 mples of imaging capability for biological sciences\, skin research and as
  an aid to the diagnosis and treatment of skin cancer\, port wine stain bi
 rth marks and rosacea.\nDemonstration systems will be available after the 
 presentation and participants are encouraged to bring samples to be imaged
 .  These can be biological or non-biological.
