DESCRIPTION:The "IBM Research" prize - sponsored by IBM Research GmbH Zuri
 ch Research Laboratory - rewards a doctoral thesis or a masters project\, 
 undertaken at the Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne. It is aimed 
 at promoting research in computational sciences and recognises outstanding
  projects developing advanced modelling and simulation methods or their ap
 plications to important topics in diverse areas of science (physics\, chem
 istry\, and biology) and engineering.\nThe prize is awarded alternatively 
 for a Doctoral Thesis (even years\, applications to the Research Commissio
 n no later than October 15) and for a Masters Project (odd years\, applica
 tions to the Academic Registrar's Office no later than August 14)\nAmount:
  4\,000.- for a Doctoral thesis\, CHF 2\,500.- for a masters project
