DESCRIPTION:Gebert Rüf Stiftung\nThe programme BREF was launched in 2009 
 by Gebert Rüf Stiftung in cooperation with the Rectors' Conference of the
  Swiss Universities of Applied Science (KFH). It has been pursued since Ja
 nuary 2015 in collaboration with swissuniversities\, the new body dealing 
 with policies in academic universities\, universities of applied science a
 nd universities of teacher education. It has an annual budget of some CHF 
 1.5 million. At the centre of interest is the potential of universities of
  applied science as R&D partners. The annual calls for projects are aimed 
 at members of universities of applied science who develop strong ideas tha
 t can also serve as models for new and promising cooperation ventures with
  partners from business and society (bridging projects).\nThe calls are pu
 blished in spring\, the closing date for submissions is in summer\, and de
 cisions on grants are made in autumn.\nThe 2015 BREF call focused – for 
 the fourth time – on the topic of social innovation\, on novel solutions
  to society’s challenges. Thanks to their strong basis in practical appl
 ication\, universities of applied science have the specific potential to d
 evelop and leverage social innovations.Source
