DESCRIPTION:Gianmarco Rossi\n(Università degli Studi di Roma "La Sapienza
"\, Italy)\nIn this research activity\, we have studied the neutron energy
spectrum produced by a fusion plasma through a Monte Carlo code in order
to improve the understanding of the "neutron averaged" ion temperature mea
sured from experimental data analysis\, in the frame of a research line pu
rsued in collaboration with M.I.T. Plasma Fusion Center and the University
of Rochester Laboratory for Laser Energetics.\nThe Monte Carlo program ta
kes into account Doppler broadening due to both nuclei thermal motion and
bulk fluid motion\, so we can simulate the production neutron energy spect
rum for a plasma both at rest and with fluid velocity. We have enhanced th
e comprehension of the effects of the bulk velocity on the neutron spectru
m width providing an improvement of existing formula. Our results shows th
at the neutron spectrum broadening due to fluid motion is important (10-30
%) and should be properly taken into account in the experimental data anal
 ysis.
