DESCRIPTION:Fabian Manke\, Imperial College London\, UK\nAs a major branch
in the world-wide effort in fusion energy research\, Inertial Confinement
Fusion in indirect drive has recently made significant progress toward ac
hieving ignition. One key to the improved control of the capsule implosion
process is the refined understanding and diagnostic treatment of various
interacting instability modes that are still limiting symmetry control and
thus peak compression.\nIn order to further improve the data-analysis\, e
.g. from neutron spectra or various imaging techniques\, a continuous effo
rt is underway to quantify the signatures of dominant failure modes in sim
ulated implosions in order to determine their relative importance in exper
imental data. Some of the recent activity and progress in this area is to
be presented in the form of post-processing tools characterising these mod
elled diagnostics. Possible implications for the inference of plasma tempe
rature and motion will be outlined by considering relations between 0D neu
tron spectra of multiple sources and full 3D data.
