DESCRIPTION:Alexander Noll (EPFL)\nIn this talk\, I will give a short intr
 oduction to the geometric formulation of the WKB method. The WKB method is
  a way to approximate solutions to ordinary (or partial) differential equa
 tions on Riemann surfaces. I will focus on the case of a second order diff
 erential equation formulated on an arbitrary Riemann surface where many pr
 operties can be read off from the geometry of the quadratic differential a
 ssociated with a linear differential operator with a large paramter.
