DESCRIPTION:Western culture has a long-standing investment in the apocalyp
 tic. The apocalyptic genre abounds today\, and urges us to re-think issues
  of national identity\, economy\, and ethics in light of shifting geopolit
 ical configurations. Immersed in such geopolitical shifts\, neoliberal cap
 italism is the silent victor of many an apocalypse. An example of this lie
 s in the 2008 financial crisis\, a circumstance of speculative excess push
 ed over the brink and salvaged by American and European government bailout
 s. Given these ties between neoliberalism and the nation\, what might we m
 ean today when we speak of the apocalyptic? If the ‘apocalypse’ means 
 both the ‘end of the world’\, and a ‘revelation’\, then what does 
 the apocalyptic reveal?Submission of Abstracts\nWe invite innovative pape
 rs of 20 minutes\, which explore the apocalyptic genre and neoliberal capi
 talism by taking into account socio-economic\, cultural\, and political fa
