DESCRIPTION:Prof. Dr Eric Vauthey\, Université de Genève\nAlthough liqui
d/liquid interfaces play a key role in many areas of science and technolog
y\, their properties are only partially understood. Our strategy to obtain
an insight into these properties is to investigate the ultrafast excited-
state dynamics of environment-sensitive molecular probes at liquid interfa
ces using time-resolved surface second harmonic generation\, and to compar
e it with the dynamics of the same molecules in bulk solutions. Additional
ly\, this approach gives rich information on how the chemical reactivity m
ay change when going from the bulk phase to the interface.\nThis will be i
llustrated with several studies of friction\, ionic concentration\, hydrog
en bonding and chirality at liquid interfaces.\nS. Richert\, S. Mosquera V
