 als would provide us with a key to unlock further understanding into neura
 l dynamics. In this seminar I will demonstrate this principle using two ty
 pes of data:\n1) Steady state visual evoked potentials (SSVEP)\, studied b
 oth using ERP averages and single trial analysis.\n2) Temporal structure o
 f the signals recorded from patients with neurodegenerative disorders in r
 est conditions.\nThe structural organization (which elements are relevant)
  and associated functional role (how these elements play a role in brain d
 ynamics) of electroencephalographic (EEG) oscillations are still far from 
 being completely understood. Let us consider the separation of such oscill
 atory activities into background (or ongoing) potentials and transient bur
 st pattern activities. The background EEG is constituted by regular waves\
 , whereas bursts are transient and with higher amplitudes\, with specific 
 time-frequency properties. These bursts are organized local activities\, m
 ost likely to be representative of local synchronies. How could we study t
 heir functional significance for cognitive neurodynamics?
