DESCRIPTION:Prof. Petros Koumoutsakos\, ETHZ\nThe simulation of the motion
of interacting particles is a deceivingly simple\, yet powerful and natur
al\, method for exploring diverse transport processes ranging from nanoflu
idic devices\, to cell migration and jellyfish swimming. This flexibility
has been traditionally associated with reduced numerical accuracy and poo
r computational efficiency. Efforts to address these problems will be pres
ented\, as wells as an introduction to novel wavelet adapted particle meth
ods\, algorithms for coupling of atomistic and continuum descriptions and
the implementation of particle methods in massively parallel computer arch
 itectures.
