  and plays a crucial role in the development of chronic liver disease. As 
 pharmacological activation of the antioxidant Nrf2 transcription factor is
  a promising strategy to prevent toxin-induced liver damage\, we aimed to 
 study effects of continous Nrf2 activation in the liver. We analysed mice 
 expressing a constitutively active Nrf2 mutant in hepatocytes and found un
 expected deleterious effects on liver regeneration. Furthermore\, we gener
 ated mice lacking both Nrf2 and p65/RelA signalling in hepatocytes to iden
 tify potential complementary cytoprotective functions. These mice develope
 d spontaneous liver inflammation and fibrosis\, providing evidence for a f
 unctional interaction of Nrf2 and NF-kB signaling in the liver in vivo.”
