DESCRIPTION:Durham University\nThe Institute of Advanced Study is Durham U
 niversity’s major interdisciplinary research institute\, providing a cen
 tral forum for debate and collaboration across the entire disciplinary spe
 ctrum. The Institute seeks to catalyse new thinking on major annual themes
  by bringing together leading international academics as well as writers\,
  artists and practitioners.\nThe theme for 2016/17 is ‘Scale’\, interp
 reted in its broadest sense – scientifically\, symbolically\, legally\, 
 philosophically\, literarily\, politically\, economically\, and sociologic
 ally. Applications for the 2016/17 Fellowship opened on 22 April 2015. Up 
 to 20\, three-month fellowships (October-December 2016 and January-March 2
 017)\, linked to the annual theme. Applicants may be from any academic dis
 cipline or professional background involving research\, and they may come 
 from anywhere in the world. IAS Fellowships include honorarium\, travel\, 
 accommodation\, subsistence and costs associated with replacement teaching
  or loss of salary (where appropriate).Source
