DESCRIPTION:Jonathan Scott (Cleveland State University)\nIn this talk\, we
will discuss how the interleaving distance for persistence diagrams can b
e generalized\, by using first the ``future equivalences'' of Grandis\, an
d then further\, using modified co-spans.  The utility of our approach is
demonstrated by revealing shift equivalences of dynamical systems as gene
ralized interleavings.  This is joint work with P. Bubenik (CSU) and V. d
 e Silva (Pomona College).
